Gusface has been busy tackling the Anti Govt Media to dispel the Myths regarding various Govt Issues.

He has battled the Gatekeepers of #OhMike and Nightlife with Tony Delroy to spread the word – often with derision and attack from those who wish to spread the Liberal Line.

    I think its time for Govt to stop any advertising in newspapers and let it be known to TV/radio that only those who “behave” will get any advertising.. Let all tenders be advertised through an e tendering site. Jobs be advertised through a dedicated Govt site. According to Bruce Guthrie’s book papers caved in to advertising pressure from the likes of woolies etc. Not sure of facts but I would guess that Govt would have a pretty hefty advertising spend across all depts.

    Paul Keating’s attack on Chris Uhlmann’s interview of a fellow Labor Prime Minister demonstrates an understandable tribal loyalty.  Keating sent it unsolicited to The Drum and we published it because this site has a culture of open and robust debate. But it cannot pass without comment. It is a personal and unreasonable assault on one of this country’s best political journalists and interviewers. Uhlmann’s interview with the Prime Minister canvassed the decisions made by her government to achieve a forecast budget surplus. He asked questions in the public mind – questions about savings made by breaking or shifting previous promises on business tax cuts, defence and foreign aid. He asked reasonably whether broken promises reflect on the credibility of the government and on its forecast. When the theme of credibility is infused into the very being of the current parliament, it’s a fair enough line of inquiry. Later parts of the interview were about cash bonuses, the carbon price and Julia Gillard’s judgement about Craig Thompson and Peter Slipper. These are matters that go to the heart of Julia Gillard’s prime ministership. I’ve just re-watched the interview. Chris’s tone throughout was respectful but probing, the appropriate tone for a political interviewer doing what political interviewers have always done – acting devil’s advocate for a public seeking to better understand its leaders. I’ve been around long enough to remember Prime Ministers and their acolytes levelling similar charges of impertinence against ABC political anchors, from Richard Carleton to Kerry O’Brien. Chris Uhlmann, widely respected in Canberra and amongst his colleagues  as a decent, intelligent and no-nonsense journalist, continues a fine tradition.

    Thanks very much, Muttleymcgee – I’ve just caught up with that link you provided.  Very interesting and persuasive.  It’s a pity there aren’t more people like Tony Windsor in the parliament –  I don’t always agree with his politics but you can’t question his sincerity or integrity.  He’s obviously thought this whole issue through very carefully – as they all should.  At the moment there are too many people prepared to sacrifice one of the fundamental principles of the Westminster democratic system for the sake of a short-term advantage for themselves.  Very scary … and dangerous.

    Troy “Seat Sniffer” Buswell once again covers himself in glory.

    A Perth woman, who needs an assistance dog to stop her falling into a coma at any moment, will take on WA transport authorities in a landmark Federal Court case after being banned from buses and trains.

    Anita Gustafsson, 40, has a severe form of Type 1 diabetes with hypo unawareness that causes her to fall into a coma or have a seizure without warning.

    She would unexpectedly fall unconscious about twice a month wherever she was – in shopping centres or at work – until assistance dog Mika was trained four years ago to alert her to changes in her scent when her sugar levels were too low or high.

    Because of Mika’s life-saving skills and special training, she is allowed to fly from Perth to anywhere in the world and catch buses and trains in every other state in Australia.

    But bizarrely, the WA Public Transport Authority and the Transport Minister have barred the tiny dog from buses and trains in Perth.

    Transperth has even gone so far as distributing ‘banned’ pictures of Mika to Transperth staff alerting them to escort Ms Gustafsson and her dog out of any bus or train station she enters.

    Opposition health spokesman Roger Cook wrote to Transport Minister Troy Buswell asking him to allow Mika to travel on public transport, but his plea was refused.

    This is truly apalling.

    The real highlight of Hockey’s comedy routine however was when he was asked the question,”Would the Noalition accept the vote of Craig Thomson if he supported the Noalition in a vote of no confidence in the Government?” Sloppy Joe admitted that they would.

    So, after weeks of listening to his leader tell anyone who was listening (and everyone who wasn’t) about how Mr Thomson’s vote was “tainted”, Hockey has said publicly that the Noalition would be only too happy to count Mr Thomson’s vote if he voted their way. In other words if Mr Thomson votes with the ALP, his vote is tainted. If he votes with the Noalition, it’s squeaky clean.

    Congratulations Joe. You have revealed to the world, that not only are you a serial buffoon, you are a hypocrite as well. Just like your leader.

    Last night Uhlmann’s bias against the Labor Party shone through when he had an interview with Foreign Affairs Minister, Bob Carr.

    The interview itself wasn’t too bad. Senator Carr was on because he had had a complaint lodged against him by Slippergate plaintiff James Ashby in the Human Rights Commission. Once again, that was fair enough, a genuine current affairs item.

    What Uhlmann completely neglected to tell viewers was that Senator Carr was one of two people named in the case. the other one was National Party nincompoop Barnaby Joyce. Uhlmann cannot claim to be ignorant of the complaint against Joyce as he was named in the same complaint at the same time as Senator Carr. (Slipper accuser now pursuing Carr, Joyce).

    Why didn’t Uhlmann even mention Barnaby Joyce? If Joyce wasn’t available for an interview, that would be fair enough. Uhlmann could’ve said something along the lines of “Nationals senator, Barnaby Joyce, was also named in the complaint, but was not available to be interviewed for this edition of 730″. Nothing wrong with that. To neglect mentioning Joyce altogether though, reeks of bias.

    As our voting system is boiled down to a Two Party System, we will also adjust the scores down to a final total between the two major parties.

    Mr Thomson, before becoming an Independent was a member of the ALP, so his tainted vote has been allocated to the ALP.

    Mr Slipper was previously a member of the LNP, so obviously his vote has to be allocated to the LNP.

    This brings the final adjusted score for tainted votes to:

    ALP – ?
    LNP – ?

    Perhaps Abbott would be well advised to not push the tainted vote meme anymore as his party is ? times more tainted than the party he is trying to smear as being tainted.
