Final Call: PM Gillard 77 Rudd 25

No bull, no guessing – we are the Dolphins – The Finnigans (The beautiful photos were done by @GeorgeBludger) - Michelle Rowland will not vote tomorrow, so the total will be: 102, not 103.

Our final count of the publicly declared support: PM Gillard 61 Rudd 19 with 22 Known Unknown. The question is how will the Unknowns break. Sportsbet is reporting the odds of PM Gillard $1.11 Rudd $6.25. Based on that we took the conservative approach and say the Unknowns will be break 70:30 to PM Gillard’s favour. This will give PM Gillard additional 16 votes to 77 and Rudd 6 votes to 25. That is our final call: 77 to 25

  3. gee frank  over 1000  responses to just this  congratulations

  5. PM presser is on now

  6. hmmmm bilbos still down

  7. sorry correction  daves  link was the spectator

  8. an ode to thomas paine

Oh the paine the paine the paine

Rudds gone, not comming back again.

the PM is female, the shame the shame

Oh the paine the paine the paine

  9. Is this being read or is it off the cuff ?

  10. What I would love to see at question time is the the Government puts this bad government mantra to bed once and for all, by highlighting all the great things they have achieved under trying circumstances.

Then highlight if an election was called tomorrow, what policies they have for the future, and then show up a blank piece of paper and highlight this the policies of the opposition.

  11. Mick, too funny :)

  12. offthe cuff  i think she does this all the time,      remember how rudd supporters went on about JUlia  not thanking rudd at the conf,

  13. george, its just waiting for the paine engines next rant over at PB’s

  14. the media want change

  15. well i must say though  it will be funn to have a sticky over there later

  16. Kevin Rudd thanked everyone under the heaven, except Bruce Hawker

  17. Mick, you do realise that if Gillard had lost today, T Paine would have spent the next 18 months complaining that Rudd should never have knifed her.

  18. imagine how frustrated the rudd lot  are waiting for  pb to  unlocke the door

  19. the that national dissabilty scheme will be for the next election,  more health policies ect.   nows the time to offer some goodies.  sick of the contraversal stuff.

  20. hhha  laugh

  21. bomberrose, completely agree with you. This should be the ONLY answer they give regardless of the situation – whether in QT, a newspaper interview, or on TV.

Howard (as much as I hated him) was the master of this. Stay on message no matter what. Go and watch him on some of the 7:30 report interviews, with a hard-nosed interviewer like Kerry, not the softcock Toolman. Listen to the questions and then the answers – you could be forgiven for thinking they are from two separate interviews! At the end of the interview you the viewer don’t really remember the questions, ony the “answers” – and Howard’s answers were always the message, repeated over and over. Some of his senior ministers also had this ability. And any minister who deviated from the message and actually bought into the line of questinioning was never to be seen (on TV) again.

Labor need to distil their good economic results into sharp short messages and then bang them out like a Sam Kekovich meat campaign. Labor ministers should become the Borg, one message, unified, repeated, regardless of the question or context.

  22. CH 2 cut from the PM’s presser during questions to discuss her presser. rude bastards. I am back at ancnews24 online which isstill showing the many questions.

  23. Julia is simply magnificent.

  24. about time  reporters  had to say who they are before they speak,,, likein the us.a  the one about the carbon tax  well said julia

  25. The PM is cutting stupid questioners short. Very authortive. I bet the rabbott is putting on a chain-mail codpiece.

  26. george, its just waiting for the paine engines next rant over at PB’s

Mick, I aint :) I’m more than happy to work here building up a viable, progressive blog without any PB baggage. One that doesn’t need a quantity of blog posts to appear popular, especially when those posts are the same one’s hashed out daily and weekly purely for the purpose of having an argument, or even worse, to repeat Lib/media memes in the hope of diluting facts.

  27. george well said  you should comment more often,,,,, why not start off the morning if you are able with commnet

  28. Geroge   can you work out why me  typing on my android   is in delay,  i am at the computer today and i bet you can see the difference,  any ideas.

  29. Julia’s press conference…WOW. She just destroyed those pathetic lowlifes. Shortshift to any dumb, repetitive questions or gotchas, and with a glare to match the waitress. This is going to be good

  30. BB will you make guest appearances please with your long verse

  31. Geroge   can you work out why me  typing on my android   is in delay,  i am at the computer today and i bet you can see the difference,  any ideas.

My Say, as I am fully Apple-oriented here (Mac, iPhone, iPad) and no access to Android devices, not sure why. Have you tried using a different browser on your Android device? There are quite a few available, and maybe the stock one that came with your device might be buggy

  32. i would say she felt very inhibited before,   with what she new was going on behind her back,,, the monkey has been lifted off  her shoulder.

  33. Rudd’s speech was good. Very ruddish but fine for the circumstances,

Annabel crabb said the PM is getting short “with us”, poor crabby.

Abbott is sticking his ugly mug into it, his presser soon.

  34. thanks george i will get my son in law  who is  pharmacits but a techo  mad person to look for me.,  He is in melbourne at the moment with our daughter our baby grandson  who is   having a wider stent in ,….. will check with him next week  please send great vibes  for our baby george  our grandson…….its  routine  thing  as his heart grows they have to widen the stent,  but still  wish it was over and  they where back home

  35. Puffy

I bet the rabbott is putting on a chain-mail codpiece

Gold. I only caught the tail end of it, but did seem like Gillard has adopted a strategy of GFY to the media. I bet Pyne is pissing in his short pants right now.

  36. How good was she?! The way she cut that reporter down about the carbon price!!!

    “Settle in!”

  37. Sending out happy thoughts/wishes My Say :)

  38. Wow!  As BB said, the PM is simply magnificant.

  39. Laocoon2

Crabby was whinging about it on abcnews24. “She is very short …WITH US” surprised, hurt, what did I do to deserve this.

  40. Abbott presser is late – sent out for another codpiece, first one too big.

  41. Abbott presser now. No point listening. I know what he is going to say

  42. Abbott using Rudd’s words surprise surprise and 1/3 her colleagues and 1/4 her ministers do not support Gillard. Thanks Kev.

  43. To be fair, the ABC crew were actually very complimentary of the PM’s speech.

  44. LMAO – Abbot: ‘I am a model of positivity’.

  45. Abbott’ has  plans for people power in schools or something yada yada gimmee an election now coz the faceless men gunna git us.

oops shannas askingabbott about a challenge to his own position. Abbott waffles and starts to dribble. He is going to walk soon…

  46. Abbott “formally requests”  the Indies to declare their confidence in gov’t.

  47. Just switched over to see Abbott’s expression. He looks strange.

  48. Abbott is FORMALLY requesting the Indies to call a confidence vote. Idiot.

  49. I don’t think Abbott should be crowing about Gillard’s lack of support.

She put her position on the line to test the loyalty of her colleagues and got the biggest level of support for any leader in Australian Federal history.

Abbott is a complete coward that would never willingly do the same. He knows what the result will be. Backbenchville.

  50. Is there a video to the PM’s just completed press conference? The ABC seem to have ignored it on there site.
