Final Call: PM Gillard 77 Rudd 25

No bull, no guessing – we are the Dolphins – The Finnigans (The beautiful photos were done by @GeorgeBludger) - Michelle Rowland will not vote tomorrow, so the total will be: 102, not 103.

Our final count of the publicly declared support: PM Gillard 61 Rudd 19 with 22 Known Unknown. The question is how will the Unknowns break. Sportsbet is reporting the odds of PM Gillard $1.11 Rudd $6.25. Based on that we took the conservative approach and say the Unknowns will be break 70:30 to PM Gillard’s favour. This will give PM Gillard additional 16 votes to 77 and Rudd 6 votes to 25. That is our final call: 77 to 25

Looks as if the senior left has decided for Gillard. This means Rudd has no chance.

Problem is after the public attacks on him he could well decide he has no future and resign from parliament.  I would if I had had such a huge load of Sh*t dumped on me.

After all being regarded as a labor rat cannot add much to the hatred he already has directed at him.  This means that a by election in Qld and Gillard government out.

    Well done!!!!!!!!

He could resign from Labor and go independent. That WOULD be funny to watch

  2. Kevin Rudd told his four media co-conspirators that if he lost the first round, he would sit on the backbench

and distabalize from there. I wonder if he has Carr, Ferguson and Bowen’s support to do this.

Its quite an amazing dynamic on here.

Those supporting Rudd as an advocate against the faceless men and the sussex street “polling not policy” modus operandi appear to have no qualms about a paid lobyist Hawker running the show for Rudd almost solely on the “look at polls” criteria.

Really! and when the polls dont pick up for Rudd or decline in due course what have you set yourself up for?

But for the Gillard camp, the first real break came courtesy of the challenger’s choice to spruik his case on national television. Not for him, senior ministers in the Government, but a paid lobbyist, Bruce Hawker.

Paul Howes was rightly criticised in June 2010, when he, as a trade union boss, went on Lateline the night of the coup and urged a vote for Gillard. That single event helped give rise to the damaging “faceless men” syndrome.

But at least Paul Howes’ union was affiliated with the ALP. To use a lobbyist, armed only with a brand new slogan, was an error of judgment.

From Cassidy’s article on the drum.  To compare Paul Howes to Bruce Hawker is completely ridiculous.  The criticism of Howes was that he swung votes in the caucus by his control over those caucus members via the AWU to vote for Gillard.  Hawker has no such influence on the party at all.  but I guess this is the standard of Cassidy’s journalism that we have come to expect because he has personal grudge against Rudd

I would like to believe otherwise but I do not think Rudd can recover from this position. The vitriol has been too great against him and the libs will use it mercilessly.

Since I think he is going to be trashed on Monday but has no choice but to stand, I think he will probably quit parliament or move to the cross benches.  What loyalty has the ALP shown him?  How can he even sit in the same room as Swan and Crean?  How can he POSSIBLY remain in caucus after the vile abuse hurled at him?

He may as well become an independent.

I guess we are now facing an election in 3 months.

William et al, If you are right and everyone is going to assume Gillard is a liar, then I will be viciously lividly angry about it. I will be angry at every miserable focker who set out to slur and support the slur of this woman who had the temerity to take the Prime Ministership from a man, and then go to an election and use negotiating skills instead of brute force to win government. Then when she finds a way to implement a price on carbon to try to save future generations, (including the future generations of her detractors no less) the miserable self-interested maggots, both male and male-identified female, use it to destroy her reputation.

It may not sway an election. I am one person. But there is a anger in me for this that is be deep and beyond giving any forgiveness. Now people can come back at me and accuse me of the using sexism blah blah blah, but make no mistake, this is not a line of argument nor an academic discussion. It is a deep fermenting rage, and do not think I am alone.

Re Jess Rudd, I’m sure she’s daddy’s girl, but I do wonder about that son of his.  I have one of my own and grandsons too, and my heart went out to Marcus that day in June, 2010.  Imagine having a father like Kevin Rudd, for god’s sake, master of manipulation, giant ego and unawareness of the needs of others around him.   What a rotten thing to do, dragging him out to stand there behind his Dad at a time of utmost humiliation.

  41. Finny,

I’m sure I heard Dougie say he was going with Rudd earlier this arvo.

  42. and spike milligan

There was a poor news guy who had to read the news, Spike Milligan sat down beside him with an open mike.

There are a few sensible ones, but the place has been taken over by Ruddistas. For the life of me I cannot understand how someone who has deliberately undermined the govt for personal gain, could still be respected. Especially his behaviour in the past few days. It has been disgusting.
