The Dawn Patrol Reporting For Duty

And so this is Xmas on the Western Front. At the least, that yellow thingy has decided to grace us on this Xmas morning.

Here at Bradfield, it’s a beautiful Xmas morning. Calm, very calm, no wind at all. Just few little breezes dancing about. The temperature is almost goldilocks like at 19C.

Paradise found.

  1. As i have opened the batting here at Frank’s View. Really looking forward to tomorrow Bollywood Extravaganza at the MCG:

Clarke warns his side to play fair – Australia captain Michael Clarke says his players will be aggressive towards India but they won’t cross the line in the four-Test series starting on Monday.Clarke and rival skipper MS Dhoni said they were anxious to avoid the bad blood which marred India’s previous Test tour of Australia four years ago.

  2. Oh dear, it looks like the Repug POTUS primary is in total shamble. They have no hope of beating OBI in 2012.

Newt Gingrich declared confidently the other day that he would get his name on the ballot for the Republican presidential primary in Virginia. In fact, he said he already had the requisite 10,000 signatures and an additional 2,000 to 3,000 for safety’s sake and would probably collect even more.

But that turned out not to be the case. In the wee hours of Saturday morning, the Virginia Republican Party announced via Twitter that Mr. Gingrich had failed to submit enough signatures by the Thursday deadline, highlighting the organizational challenges to his campaign and raising questions about his prospects in a drawn-out nominating fight.

Many of the Gingrich campaign’s signatures were apparently invalid, which is why most campaigns try to collect almost twice as many as needed. Gov. Rick Perry of Texas and Representative Michele Bachmann of Minnesota also failed to make the grade.
  3. Good morning to the dawn patrol, I am here checking the dispatches before heading out to visit friends and family. We had our festive dinner last night tempura prawns, salads, roast duck, vegetables and the trimmings. All (well not all still plenty for another couple of meals) went well and was appreciated by everyone so my hours in the kitchen was worth the happiness it brought. Those just dropping by to check on the political news need not fear Ms Gillard is still our Prime Minister (and a damed good one), ALP still in government (and leading us to a bright future), Mr Abbot is still Opposition Leader (and still proving what a collosal wangker he is), LNP still opposition (and still showing what a shambles they are). When Danny gets here you will hear the regular bugle call. From me to you, enjoy whatever flavour of festival you deem it to be.

Tony Abbott’s double happiness and Xmas celebration, another AS boat has arrived
  12. Ah, I am back in.I am getting ready to go to my sons in a minute; I am dropping in to say hi.

I see that mob of cockroaches aka The Coalition couldn’t let Xmas Day go past without blaming the gov’t for the latest boat arrival. I suppose it was Labor’s fault too that the Inn was full.

No respect, no manners, no class = Tony Abbott.

  13. When Bradley Manning does a plea bargain and agrees to give evidence against Julian Assange who will the wikiwankers support?

  14. it looks like Ron Paul is now GORN for the Repugs as well after Trump, Cain, Perry, Bachmann, Gringrich.

So as Ron Paul is on track to win the Iowa caucuses, he is getting a new dose of press scrutiny.

And the press is focusing on the newsletters that went out under his
name in the late 1980s and early 1990s. They were called the Ron Paul’s Political Report, Ron Paul’s Freedom Report, the Ron Paul Survival Report and the Ron Paul Investment Letter.

There is no doubt that the newsletters contained utterly racist statements.

    Some choice quotes:

“Given the inefficiencies of what DC laughingly calls the criminal
justice system, I think we can safely assume that 95 percent of the
black males in that city are semi-criminal or entirely criminal.”

“We are constantly told that it is evil to be afraid of black men, it is hardly irrational.”

After the Los Angeles riots, one article in a newsletter claimed, “Order
was only restored in L.A. when it came time for the blacks to pick up
      their welfare checks.”

One referred to Martin Luther King Jr. as “the world-class philanderer
who beat up his paramours” and who “seduced underage girls and boys.”

Another referred to Barbara Jordan, a civil rights activist and
congresswoman as “Barbara Morondon,” the “archetypical half-educated
      victimologist.”

Other newsletters had strange conspiracy theories about homosexuals, the CIA, and AIDS.

  15. Finns

Will the Repugs have any candidate at all. Maybe it will be Obama v Indy Trump.

  16. Ru, they can always recruit Mickey Mouse, he is popular and available

And about the correct age for repugs.

  18. And about the correct age for repugs.

A bit too intellectual for the Repugs though.

  19. Another Xmas gorn (thankfully)  So much money spent on mostly useless presents and bucket loads of food most of us could well do without :)   Me?  Well I enjoyed the company of the family though I must admit I prefer to enjoy them all in smaller gatherings when the grandies are in smaller doses and less noisy.  I enjoyed a small plate of Xmas fare and a large helping of rich trifle/cream/icecream, and then left them all to their  boisterousness while I relaxed with a glass of champers to watch an ancient movie that brought back memories of times long gone.  At 3pm, peace descended up here on my hill as the whole clan decamped to the river below to try out the new fishing gear.  With stomachs filled with christmas fare, the anglers were only intent on reducing the numbers of the abundant carp so all silver perch were unhooked, kissed and allowed to swim away.  A pair of wedge-tailed eagles waited patiently on the other side of the river for their christmas dinner of fresh carp – perhaps they look on carp as ‘water rabbits’.
