  8. So Their ABC Adelaide Local Radio gets breached with a Tummy Ruub ?

    19 December 2011

    < ?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

ABC breached for lack of impartiality

The ABC Adelaide local radio station 5AN breached the
impartiality requirements of the ABC code of practice in an interview with the
South Australian State politician Kevin Foley on 5 April 2011. The interview
took place during the program Breakfast.

The ACMA found that the presenters displayed fixed
prejudgment on the topics discussed, asked loaded questions and used
    disparaging language.

The ACMA opened the investigation in response to two
complaints it received. One of the complainants also alleged that the broadcast
had conveyed prejudice on grounds of sex and disability. The ACMA did not
uphold this aspect of the complaint.

This is the first breach of the impartiality provisions
of the ABC code of practice since 2004.

The ACMA is liaising with the ABC about appropriate
    remedial measures.

Investigation Report 2582 can be found on the ACMA
    website.

    Background material on broadcasting

complaints can also be found on the ACMA website.

For more information or to arrange an

interview please contact: Emma Rossi, Media Manager, on
    (02) 9334 7719, 0434 652 063 or
    media@acma.gov.au.

  19. For those on Facebook – check out the tratment a Progressive US based Broadcaster is being subjected to by so -called Professional Broadcasters in regards to the direction of Talkback radio in Australia.

I’ve invited Richard to post here, but in the meantime here is a selection of his interviews with a certain Perth Midnight to Dawn presenter on the so called leading Commercial Talk Station.

  23. Via a Friend of mine on Facefook who is monitgoring Australia Radio Industry Page:

Bruce Goldberg’s taking credit for the expulsions, and promising to post your and Richard’s “Why was I dumped” messages as soon as you send them…

    How petty.

  24. I was about to post this before Crikey croaked.

Mr Assange is receiving full consular support.

Indeed, I am sure if it is appropriate, further diplomatic representations by Australia may be made to relevant governments in confidence (or would Mr Assange like to leak those cables for us? Transparency for all but his own case it seems).

It is important Mr Assange and his supporters be reminded of what the Australian Government can and cannot do to assist Australians in trouble overseas. Please see the Consular Services Charter from DFAT’s Smarttraveller website:

[We provide consular assistance to Australian citizens travelling or living abroad through our offices in Australia and diplomatic missions (embassies, high commissions, consulates) overseas. Our capacity to assist you is influenced by local laws and conditions, international rules governing consular work, and by the cooperation offered by persons and organisations outside the Australian Government.]

    [We cannot:
    - provide legal advice
    - intervene in private court proceedings or legal matters including employment disputes, commercial disputes and family law matters
    - investigate crimes or deaths overseas...
    - get you out of prison or seek special treatment for you...]

  25. Crikey Coakey how unusual.

  26. So Assange might be a cad for sleeping with 2 women within a couple of days, and he might be irresponsible for having sex without a condom and then failing to submit to HIV tests afterwards.

    No he is a criminal.

  27. DArren, your post got through.

    &nbsp

Just realised I am posting in Journo Watch – but check out my last comment re Mr Goldberg and Steve Wakely and their stifiling of freedom of speech.

I have heard Assange described as anti-secrecy. Where does the line between secrecy and privacy get ruled?

Would it be OK for all performance reviews of staff being made available? Do we draw the line at Govt? Maybe big business.

    Anyone care to enlighten me?

Well me posting public information about Herr Bowe was considered Stalking by the Assange Fan Club.

  29. Medja doing a “LOOK OVER THERE”… not obvious – even the cop looked scared!

I guess those of the little book and all dat!
